Two of Mumbai's most popular areas for working professionals. How they compare on commute, lifestyle and the kind of flats you'll find.

Powai and Andheri East sit close together but feel very different. Powai is built around the lake and large planned complexes. Andheri East is busier, better connected by rail and metro, and closer to the airport and MIDC offices.
| Factor | Powai | Andheri East |
|---|---|---|
| Feel | Planned, green, self-contained complexes | Busy, mixed residential and commercial |
| Rail and metro | No suburban station of its own; nearest are Kanjurmarg and Vikhroli | Western line, Metro 1, and Metro 3 (Aqua Line) to SEEPZ |
| Offices nearby | Powai's own office parks | MIDC, SEEPZ, airport area |
| Housing | Large gated complexes, many 2 and 3 BHKs | Wide range, from older societies to new towers |
| Watch out for | Road congestion at peak hours | Older buildings and narrower lanes in parts |
If you work in Powai, live in Powai. If you take the metro or train every day, Andheri East usually wins.
It varies by building and complex. Compare similar flats in both before deciding.
Andheri East, with the Western line, Metro 1 and Metro 3. Powai depends more on roads until Metro 6 opens.
