Tenants pay owners directly. Our new Outstanding Rent view tracks every invoice, verifies each payment before marking it paid, and keeps an audit trail.
One thing we're clear about at TND: we don't collect rent. Tenants pay owners directly, into the owner's own account. What we do is keep track of it, so an owner sitting in Dubai or London knows exactly what's been paid, what's due and what's late, without chasing anyone.
This month we signed off the specification for the next step in how we do that: an Outstanding Rent view inside our CRM. Here's what it does, and why we designed it the way we did.
Tenants already enter their transfer details and upload proof of payment in the TND app. Our team then changes the invoice status from Due to Paid. It works, but it's a single switch: it doesn't show partial payments well, and it doesn't keep a full history of who checked what.
The screen above is a sample layout with illustrative data. It has four headline numbers, each opening the matching records:
Below that sit two lists: outstanding invoices, and a queue of tenant-reported payments waiting for review, each with the proof attached.
Because a screenshot is a claim, not a receipt. In the new flow, a tenant's submission stays pending until a team member checks it against the actual receipt with the owner or the bank process we already use. Only then does it reduce the balance. Pending amounts are shown separately, so they never make the numbers look better than they are.
A screenshot is a claim, not a receipt. We only mark rent as paid once the owner's money has actually arrived.
The specification spells this out with an example. If a tenant reports Rs 40,000 against a Rs 63,000 invoice and we verify it, the invoice shows Rs 40,000 paid, Rs 23,000 outstanding and Partially Paid. When the remaining Rs 23,000 is verified, it moves to Paid. Nothing is rounded off or quietly written off.
The proposed reminder schedule is a note on the due date, follow-ups at 1, 3 and 7 days overdue, and then weekly while a balance remains. Reminders won't go to fully paid invoices, and won't nag a tenant whose payment is already under review. Automatic sending stays switched off until our operations team approves the wording and timing.
When you open your statement, the number you see will be rent that has actually reached you, not rent someone says they sent. And if a tenant has paid only part, you'll see exactly how much is left. It all feeds the reports in the TND app, alongside inspections, documents and TDS.
We'll pilot it internally first and reconcile a sample of invoices against owner-confirmed receipts before rolling it out to everyone.

No. Tenants pay rent directly to the owner. We track payments, verify them and report them to the owner.
Only after a team member verifies the payment against the actual receipt. A tenant's upload stays pending until then.
Yes. A partly paid invoice shows the verified amount, the remaining balance and a Partially Paid status.
