BMC cleared a Rs 3,304 crore, 5.6 km elevated road linking Dahisar and Bhayander as part of Coastal Road (North). Timeline, benefits and what buyers should consider.

The Western Express Highway is the only real road north out of Mumbai's western suburbs. The Coastal Road (North) project is meant to add a second route along the coast, and its last link connects Dahisar to Bhayander.
| Detail | As reported, June 2026 |
|---|---|
| Length | 5.6 km elevated road, 45 m wide |
| Connects | Dahisar (West) and Bhayander (West) |
| Cost | Rs 3,304 crore |
| Construction period | 42 months |
| Expected benefit | Cuts Versova-Bhayander travel by 30 to 45 minutes and eases the Western Express Highway |
| Status | BMC Standing Committee approved a project management consultant |
Opposition corporators questioned why Mumbai taxpayers should bear the full cost and why the tender wasn't reissued with a single bidder left. The proposal passed by majority.
Separately, the Bandra-Versova-Bhayander corridor has been reported as targeted for completion by December 2028. Large coastal projects often slip, so treat dates as targets.
A 42-month build means years of traffic diversions first. Buy for today's commute.
